What are wisdom teeth?
Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the final set of teeth to develop and appear in your mouth. Their development is usually completed between the middle teenage years and early twenties. Although some wisdom teeth grow healthy and functional, it is common for these last molars to present with issues.
Wisdom teeth require extra attention because:
- Exposed wisdom teeth may be difficult to floss and brush due to their position in the mouth, resulting in them being more susceptible to cavities, disease, and decay
- As wisdom teeth erupt, if there is limited room in the mouth, they may contribute to crowding or damage adjacent teeth
- Cysts or tumors can grow around impacted wisdom teeth, leading to more serious problems
Typically, it is easier to remove wisdom teeth in younger patients because the roots of the wisdom teeth are not completely formed, surrounding bone is softer and there is less chance of damaging nearby nerves or other structures.

Patient Testimonial By Molly B
Maddy and MD Rodenberg asked if I had any questions- I had a few which they were able to answer. They made sure to explain what was going on before they did it and what to expect. I was super nervous as this was my first time every being put under and they did so well. Thank you guys for making this procedure so easy, I was freaking out over nothing.

Everyone was very nice. They explained every step to me as we went along and answered my questions. The nurse called to check up on me and answer any questions. Dr. Brown gave me a call to see how I was doing the next day.
